LEXINGTON, KY -- The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, Inc. (NAGDCA) has announced that Utah Valley University (UVU) is the winner of the 2014 NAGDCA Retirement Knowledge Quiz Bowl. The Quiz Bowl, which occurred on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, was held during the NAGDCA annual conference in San Antonio, TX.
UVU competed against the University of the Incarnate Word after both teams advanced from the elimination round, held on Monday, September 15, 2014. Other teams competing in the elimination round included: University of Georgia, University of Missouri, William Paterson University, and Virginia Tech.
“NAGDCA encourages student participation in the annual conference by allowing complimentary registration for students and program directors, and supports the Arthur N. Caple Foundation’s scholarships for student attendees. Because of the Quiz Bowl, NAGDCA membership can see the knowledge and dedication today’s students have to becoming strong plan administrators, financial advisors, and consultants in the future,” said NAGDCA President Ed Rutherford.
“We really appreciate the opportunity NAGDCA and InFRE provides for our students at Utah Valley University and other schools each year to participate in the annual Retirement Quiz Bowl. It builds excitement for retirement planning in a fun and friendly environment,” said Hyrum Smith, Assistant Professor for Personal Financial Planning at UVU. “We look forward to participating in the quiz bowl and NAGDCA conference each year.”
NAGDCA's mission is to unite representatives from state and local governments along with private sector organizations that service and support governmental defined contribution plans. NAGDCA provides an environment to foster growth in professional development of its members through networking with peers, educational opportunities and information sharing that includes comprehensive publications, reports and surveys. NAGDCA will promote and support federal legislative initiatives for the advancement of retirement plans.
