Lawmakers are considering including SECURE 2.0 in a year-end spending package. We’re encouraging NAGDCA members to contact their lawmakers this week and express their support for the bill. To email or call your lawmaker’s office, visit https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member. A suggested script is below.
Dear [Sen./Rep. Name],
I live in your district and work with [plan name, etc.] and am a member of the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators. We support SECURE 2.0 and urge Congress to include it in the year-end spending package. This bill contains important provisions that will make a difference for government defined contribution retirement plans, such as allowing 403(b) plans to invest in collective investment trusts, eliminating the “first day of the month” rule for 457 plans, and exempting designated Roth contributions from the lifetime required minimum distribution rules. Please pass SECURE 2.0 this year.
Thank you,
[your name]
You are welcome to include additional detail, though it isn’t necessary for the message to be effective. Please share this message throughout your networks: the more voices, the more lawmakers will pay attention. We especially encourage our members who are represented by the following lawmakers to contact them:
- Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
- House Minority Leader Kevin McCarty (R-CA)
- Senate Finance Committee leaders Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Mike Crapo (R-ID)
- House Ways and Means Committee leaders Richard Neal (D-MA) and Kevin Brady (R-TX)
There is no need to contact lawmakers that do not represent you; your voice counts with the lawmakers that represent you.
We’re eager to see SECURE 2.0 cross the finish line and thank you for your help!
